Healthcare marketing is complex and could become more so in the near future with the Federal Health Information Technology (HITECH) final regulations that are expected to be announced later this Fall. Additionally, there are 20 consumer privacy bills currently working their way through the House and Senate.  If you want to stay informed on the impact of these developments on your marketing plan then you will want to join AMA Tampa Bay for a special breakfast event.

Our speaker will be Claire DeMatteis, Catalina Marketing’s Executive Vice President & General Counsel.  DeMatteis’ expertise is focused in the areas of legislative and regulatory lobbying and business development matters in the public and private sectors.  Prior to joining Catalina, DeMatteis served as senior counsel to US Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr.  In this role, DeMatteis was responsible for coordinating Senator Biden’s public policy positions and activities between his Washington DC and Delaware offices.  Additional political experience includes serving as assistant legal counsel to former Delaware Governor Michael N. Castle.  DeMatteis has been involved with healthcare regulations including HIPAA, ARRA/HITECH, FDA/DDMAC, Anti-Kickback and State issues.

AMA Tampa Bay’s Healthcare Marketing Shared Interest Group (SIG) was formed with the specific mission to bring added value to our membership by sharing, educating and igniting a passion and understanding of healthcare marketing.   Our topics are selected based on current events and legislation affecting the healthcare industry and the healthcare marketer.

Ms. DeMatteis will cover these specific topics:

  1. Learn the latest on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Federal Health Information Technology (HITECH) final regulations, which are expected to be announced later this fall.
  2. Hear about the latest FDA medical privacy protections and enforcement actions.
  3. Find out which of the 20 House and Senate Consumer Privacy bills currently before Congress may impact your business.
  4. Explore how these Federal measures impact Florida’s state laws and what that means for local healthcare.
